Inauguration of the Zoology association 2021-2022

Inauguration of the Zoology association 2021-2022 was conducted on on 26-11-2021 in the St. Josephs Hall, St Thomas College Palai. Mr. Sreehari Raman, Assistant Professor in Wildlife Sciences, College of Forestry, Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissu was the chief guest. Rev. Prof. Dr. James John Mangalathu, Principal, St Thomas College Palai delivered the presidential address which was followed by Felicitations of Prof. Dr. Sunny Kuriakose, Vice principal, Dr. Jomy Augustine, H.O.D of Department of Botany and Prof. Baby Augustine, Head of the Department of Zoology (Rtd.) St Thomas College Palai.

Inauguration of the Zoology association 2022-2023

Inauguration of the Zoology association 2022-2023 was held on 23rd January 2023 in the St. Joseph Hall. Dr. Sajan Jose K. Associate Professor (Rtd), St. Joseph’s College, Moolamattom inaugurated the ceremony. Rev. Prof. Dr. James John Mangalathu, Principal, St Thomas College Palai delivered the presidential address which was followed by Felicitations of Prof. Jogy Alex, Vice Principal, St Thomas College Palai, Dr. Davis Xavier, Vice Principal, St Thomas College Palai and Prof. Baby Augustine, Head of the Department of Zoology (Rtd.) St Thomas College Palai.

Zoology Association Inauguration [2016] and Invited talk on Ecological History of Western Ghats

The Formal inauguration of the Zoology association activities of St. Thomas College Pala 2016 and Invited talk on Ecological History of Western Ghats was carried out on 01-03-2016 in the Library hall. The programme started at 10 am with a prayer song. Sri. Jayakumar Rajan (President, Zoology Association) welcomed the audience. DR. Sunny Joseph (Principal, St. Thomas College Pala) presided the function. The resource person for the programme was Prof. E Kunhikrishnan (Retd. Head, Department of Zoology University College Thiruvananthapuram) who is a well known authority in the biodiversity of Western Ghats The programme was felicitated by Prof. Baby Augustine(Retd. Head, Department of Zoology, St. Thomas College Pala), DR. P.O Augusthy (Department of Botany, St. Thomas College Pala) and Dr. Jayesh Antony (Department of Zoology, St. Thomas College Pala). The general meeting was over by 10.45 am and the Invited talk followed it. The participants of the invited speech were the Zoology students and Botany of St.Thomas College Palai and students from Department of Zoology, Alphonsa College Palai. Sri. Jomy B Samuel (Secretary, Zoology Association) expressed the vote of thanks. The programme ended at 1.45 pm. The detailed programme chart is appended here with.

Zoology Association Inauguration [2017] and Invited talk on Natural Products in Cancer Treatment

The formal inauguration of activities of the Zoology association, St. Thomas College Pala for the year 2016 - 2017 was carried out on 23-02-2017 in the Library hall. In this occasion an Invited talk on Natural Products in Cancer Treatment was delivered by Dr. Ruby John Anto FNASc (Scientist F, Division of Cancer Research, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram). The program started by 1:30 pm with a prayer song by Pius Sebastian and Yadhu Mohan. Dr.Jayesh Antony (Asst. Professor, Department of Zoology) welcomed the Chief guest and audience. Dr. Sunny Joseph (Principal, St. Thomas College Pala) presided over the function. The resource person for the program was Dr. Ruby John Anto FNASc, Scientist Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram, who is a well known personality in Cancer Research and the recipient of National Woman Bio-Scientist Award in 2004 from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India. The program was felicitated by Prof. Baby Augustine (Rtd. Head, Department of Zoology, St. Thomas College Pala), DR. P.O Augusthy ( Associate Professor, Department of Botany, St. Thomas College Pala) Ms. Ambily K Chandran (Lecturer, Department of Zoology, St. Thomas College Pala)and Mr. Arun Justin (President, Zoology Association). The general meeting was over by 2:30 pm and after a short tea break, talk by Ruby John Anto started by 2:45pm. The participants of the invited speech were the students from Department of Zoology, Botany and Biostatistics of St.Thomas College Palai and post graduate students from Department of Zoology, Alphonsa College Palai. The talk was followed by a short interactive session. Sri. Fejin J. Felix (Secretary, Zoology Association) expressed the vote of thanks. The program ended at 4.30 pm.
