Birthday celebrations by P.G. students

Birth days are occasions for celebration. Our P.G. students celebrate the birthdays of their friends. They invite the teachers to the celebrations. Such occasions provide memories to be cherished forever. These are occasions when friendship blooms in a million colours. Students say it is the first of this kind of celebration they have ever had. They rejoice, sing songs and all of them greet the birthday boy/girl. No teacher is likely to miss the joy of being with their students on such a happy occasion. Perhaps such occasions would linger back for long even after they have left the college.

TOUR REPORT: II PG English 2018-‘19

Meera Varghese

On 25th October 2018, Thursday, 21 students of II MA English [ 2017- 2018 batch] led by Prof. P. J. Johnson and Prof. Shilpa Mathew set out for our class picnic to Kochi. That fine Thursday morning reverberated with our chatter, songs, laughter, and fun which elevated our spirits to the zenith. The first destination being Hill Palace Archeological Museum, we headed straight to Tripunithura. While having breakfast at the cool shades of the trees in the premises of Hill Palace, we found time to chill out with our friends sharing our food and hilarious moments. Our visit to Hill Palace was an exploration of centuries that passed by leaving tokens to recollect and cherish a glorious past that Kerala has inherited. The palace complex, built in traditional architectural style, captured our hearts and eyes with wonder and marvel.

Ranging from the portraits of kings to the manuscripts of ancient times [including scripts that turned out to be predecessors of modern languages], the Palace offered much to see and learn. The artifacts that reflected the culture of the society that existed during the pre- independence era included ornaments, coins, chariots, royal vestments etc. The royal court preserved these as a remembrance of ruling years of kings created a royal ambience throughout. In front of the palace was a pond populated by many varieties of fishes, which mesmerized our hearts for some time.

We departed from Hill Palace to reach the Wonderla by 11.30 am. The magic casement of wonders were open to us. It was a thrill-packed experience that we had there. The fancy rides there were quite interesting for us all and we found more than enough time to have fun. We were all moving excitedly from one ride to another without even noticing how time flew in between. We will forever cherish the fun-filled experiences that we had in the Wonderla and the memories associated with them will remain as fond remnants of our student life. During the return journey we had a sumptuous dinner together and then we reached home by 9.30 pm.
