T. S. Thomas Endowment Lecture 2021 was held in the St Joseph’s Hall on 09th December 2021. Dr Sijo K Manuel, HOD, Department of Political Science welcomed the gathering. Dr. James John Mangalathu, Principal, St. Thomas College, Palai presided over the function. Dr. Stany Thomas, Member, Kerala PSC inaugurated the programme. Dr. Cyriac Thomas, Former Member, National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, Govt. of India and Former Vice Chancellor of M G University made the endowment lecture on the topic ‘Indian Constitution in Transition. A Special Address was made by Dr. Zakir Thomas I.R.S., Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Kochi. T. S. Thomas Endowment Scholarships were distributed to students. Tinchu P James, Faculty of the department proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Extension activities

The Research and Postgraduate Department of Political Science, St. Thomas College, Pala undertakes a ‘Constitutional Literacy Programme’ as an extension activity in association with Mahatma Gandhi Govt. HSS Pala to sensitize students and the public to the constitutional obligation, values, rights, duties and responsibilities of the citizens.

AVYAANA

Department of Political Science organized an Inter Collegiate Quiz Competition (AVYAANA) on 16th March 2023.The Quiz Competition was inaugurated by Dr.Shaji John, HoD Dept. of Political Science & Vice Principal, Alphonsa College Palai. In the meeting Prof. Dr. James John Manglathu,Principal,St.Thomas College Palai,released the Departmental magazine -SAMSARA

Reception to Rank Holders

 The reception in honour of the University rank holders of M.A. Politics in 2010 was inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Tomy Joseph, Principal, S.B. College, Changanacherry. He stated that St. Thomas College is an institution noted for quality higher education and a centre for the harmonious development of human personality. He also stated that Development of Political Science is specially noted for its academic excellence. The first and third ranks secured by Mr. John C. and Ms. Teena Joseph for the year 2010 mark a remarkable achievement and a source of period for the college and the Department. Awards and mementos were presented to the rank holders. Dr. K.K. Jose, Principal, presided over the function.


Farewell to Dr. N.C. Jacob

 The farewell function in honour of Dr. N.C. Jacob, Associate Professor, Department of Politics, was inaugurated by Very. Rev. Msgr. Philip Njaralakkatt, Vicar General, Diocese of Palai. In his inaugural address, Msgr. Njaralakkatt stated that Dr. N.C. Jacob has rendered invaluable service to Department and the College. He also observed that teachers have wide opportunities for further learning and teaching after retirement. Dr. K.K. Jose, Principal, stated that the college and the Department are indebted to Dr. N.C. Jacob for his valuable service as a teacher and a research guide. Rev. Fr. N.V. Joseph, Vice Principal and Rev. Fr. Mathew Kurian, Bursar also felicitated and welcomed the distinguished guests, teachers and students and Sri. Ranjith V.T. proposed the vote of thanks.
