St. Thomas College Palai has an iconic legacy in blending teaching with research since the early stages of its inception. We have 10 research centres and there, around 40 research guides are actively involved in research and teaching. Some of our faculty members are pursuing their doctoral degree. The College instituted a “Best Published Research Paper Award” to encourage the publication of research papers by the faculty members who are actively engaged in research. The IQAC of the college formulated the rules and modality for the selection of the best research papers published by the faculty members. The following criteria are fixed to make the selection process fair and of high standard:

  • Applications are invited from the faculty of St. Thomas College Palai for the Best Published Research Paper Award at the end of every academic year.

  • The award is instituted as an incentive and support to the researchers of St. Thomas College Palai and thereby motivates the faculty members to engage in research.

  • The award is in effect from the year 2015 onwards.

  • From 2019 onwards, the cash prize is met by the interest earned from a fixed deposit of Rs.75,000/- deposited at SIB Arunapuram branch by Dr K K Jose, Former Principal of St. Thomas College Palai exclusively for this purpose

  • Only faculty members of St. Thomas College Palai are eligible for the award.

  • Only papers published in journals with ISSN shall be considered for the award.

  • There will be two awards, one each for (i) Commerce & Humanities and (ii) Science.

  • A cash award and citation/certificate will be given to each awardee.

  • A faculty member can submit only one published paper of high standard for the award.

  • Duly filled application form along with the reprint of the paper should reach the Principal on the stipulated date and time.

  • The paper will be considered for the award for the year of publication given in the reprint.

  • Address of the faculty in the published paper must be solely of St. Thomas College Palai.

  • A committee seeking the help of experts will decide the best paper in both the category.

  • Papers with less number of authors will receive high priority.

  • The selection committee will consider the impact factor of the journal, citation index of the article, h index etc for selecting the best research paper.
